data-mm-id=”_1ieodlh7j”>Grand Valley State announced Morris Berger, their offensive coordinator hired only one week ago, has been suspended for comments made about Adolf Hitler's leadership style in an interview with the school newspaper. BREAKING: GVSU’s new member of the football coaching team suspended after comments to school newspaper saying the way Adolf Hitler “was able to lead was second-to-none”. GV promising a “thorough investigation”. @WOODTV pic.twitter.com/SptzRhZfD0— Leon Hendrix (@LeonHendrix) January 27, 2020Berger conducted a Q&A with Grand Valley Lanthorn editor Kellen Voss about his life and other standard info to give supporters of the university an inside look at the man who was supposed to help improve their offense. It was all going well until Voss asked which notable historical figures, dead or alive, he'd like to have dinner with: “KV: So you graduated from Drury with a degree in History, you’re a history guy. If you could have dinner with three historical figures, living or dead, who would they be? And I’m ruling out football figures.””MB: This is probably not going to get a good review, but I’m going to say Adolf Hitler. It was obviously very sad and he had bad motives, but the way he was able to lead was second-to-none. How he rallied a group and a following, I want to know how he did that. Bad intentions of course, but you can’t deny he wasn’t a great leader.”"Probably not going to get a good review" is a strong contender for understatement of the year (next to describing Hitler's intentions as "bad"), and we're not even out of January yet. This poor college kid handled it as best he could with the follow-up: “KV: The way he was able to get people to rally around him was crazy.””MB: Yeah, that’s definitely one. You have to go JFK, his experience with the country and being that he was a good president and everything. And this might sound crazy, but Christopher Columbus, the ability to go on the journey he was on and his emotion into the unknown. Think about putting yourself in the setting of that unknown, and then to take it all in as you arrive is crazy.”These quotes were "mistakenly deleted" after the initial publication of the piece, but as the paper notes, it was reverted back to the original transcription. JFK is a solid one, but I mean, Christopher Columbus, too? That's quite a double whammy from this guy. For all you aspiring football coaches out there– maybe praise someone, or nearly anyone, other than Adolf Hitler when you want to point to a quality leader. Just some food for thought.

Chile and Denmark will meet for the second time in their history, in what will be a massive game for both countries. Chile will try to confirm all the good things they evidenced against Sweden last week, while Denmark will try to take another step in the right direction in their 2018 World Cup preparations after winning 1-0 over Panama the last time out.

Denmark are coming off a 1-0 win over Panama in their most recent friendly, but players and pundits were not happy with the team s performance. In fact, Tottenham s star Christian Eriksen said the team should have closed the game out sooner against the CONCACAF side, so they will likely try to play at a higher level here. According to Fabrizio Romano, Raheem Sterling has agreed to join Arsenal from Chelsea if the two clubs manage to reach an agreement. The talks are believed to be in the final stages at the moment.
Chelsea considered the possibility of swapping Sterling for Manchester United s Jadon Sancho, but they re currently on the verge of signing the former Borussia Dortmund winger directly, without sending anyone the other way.
Meanwhile, there s obviously no place for Sterling in the plans of Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, whose squad needs plenty of trimming done before the transfer window closes. It remains to be seen what his role would be at Arsenal, where he d be competing against the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a place in Mikel Arteta s tea…

“I don t know. I have an idea but not even had contact from anyone in terms of that because, during the season, I am not too much ready to think about that. Of course, we have to do something because David (Silva) is leaving and in some positions, we are going to do it, but I don t know how many or how much because the market is always difficult and still there are two or three months, and two or three months can change a lot of things.”
Those are the words of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola who noted that his side have yet to really start thinking about what’s going to happen during the summer transfer window.
While the Premier League title race is all but done with Liverpool being 22 points ahead of City right now, they’ve still got three other com…

Kalvin Phillips is undergoing a medical at West Ham on Thursday ahead of his loan switch from Manchester City.
The England midfielder has agreed a move to the London Stadium until the end of the season.
West Ham will have an option to buy Phillips once the loan deal is over.
The PA news agency understands the loan deal will be announced either later on Thursday or on Friday morning.
Phillips joined City from Leeds for £45million on a six-year contract in July 2022.
But the 28-year-old has never managed to hold down a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s side and has not started a single Premier League match this season.
Crystal Palace and Newcastle were also interested in Phillips but he has opted for West Ham, who are currently sixth in the…
Oliver Kahn feels incoming Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel has taken a very courageous step by agreeing a move to Bavaria to challenge Manuel Neuer for the number one spot.
Last week Bayern confirmed Nubel, 23, would be joining the Bundesliga champions on a free in July upon the expiration of his contract with Schalke.
That was the very transfer Neuer made in 2011, though his presence as Bayern s number one and captain means Nubel may struggle for playing time initially.
Former Bayern keeper Kahn, who has returned to the club as a member of their executive board, had advised Nubel to remain at Schalke last April because he had not earned his stripes internationally.
Back then I wasn t involved in decisions regarding transfers, Kahn told a n…
Antoine Griezmann has reached the 200-goal mark for club and country after scoring the winner in Atletico Madrid s 1-0 LaLiga triumph over Espanyol on Saturday.
In an otherwise unremarkable game, Griezmann proved decisive from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after Koke had been felled by a wild Esteban Granero kick.
It was Griezmann s 86th LaLiga goal for Atletico in his 160th outing since joining from Real Sociedad in 2013.
He also scored 40 LaLiga goals for La Real across four seasons in the top flight, plus six in the second tier in 2009-10.
The France international finished third in this year s Ballon d Or after helping his country to World Cup glory and Atletico Madrid to the Europa League title.
In total, 26 of Griezmann s goals have co…

David Silva has played his final game for Manchester City after a decorated decade at the Etihad Stadium.
He came on as a late substitute as City suffered a surprise 3-1 Champions League quarter-final defeat to Lyon in Lisbon on Saturday, ending a remarkable stay with the club.
Signed from Valencia in June 2010, the Spain playmaker was integral in transforming Roberto Mancini s City from pretenders to contenders and then champions.
The 2011-12 Premier League title was the first of four Silva won in England s top flight, along with five EFL Cups and two FA Cups – scoring in the 2018 and 2019 finals of those respective competitions.
But a handsome collection of medals and dizzying stats for assists only tell part of the story, with countless maj…
